nl:gebruiker:mahjongg Hello and welcome to my userpage. My name is Martin de Jong, which would probably be Americanized to Martin Young (the literal translation of my name is Martin the young one), and I am a Dutch citizen from Zoetermeer. I am male, 48 and single. I am a Wikipedian since around 2001.
My profession is electronic engineer, and ever since the 1970s I am busy with microprocessors, designing micropocessor based electronic equipment. In fact, in 1980 or so, I designed one of the first Dutch Microcomputers, called the ASTER CT-80. It was a TRS-80 clone, that could also run CP/M. Since then I have been interested in the history of computers. I own an extensive library with German, Dutch, British and American computer magazines. For example an (almost) complete complete collection of BYTE magazine. I also collect old homecomputers of which I have between 60 and 70 (I lost count)
A couple of years ago I found out that I am a picture thinker, this explains for a great part why I choose this occupation. But the pitfall is that I am slightly dyslextic. So please don't mind my spelling errors <grin>. Also I have problems remembering the abstract sequences of letters (as I call them) called "names". The positive side is that I sometimes just grasp (view) the answer to a difficult problem, and sometimes have insights.
I have a broad fields of interests, ranging from technical matters to philosophy, Anthropology, and other social sciences.
I have been anonymously working on wikipedia for about a year or so now, manly on this version of wikipedia, but also on the Dutch version.
here is a short list of some of the pages I have been working on (as far as I can remember, or could find out).
- History of computing hardware
- Computing timeline 1980-1989
- UNIVAC I
- TRS-80
- ASTER CT-80
- Electronics
- Picture thinking
- Santa Claus
- Queer theory
- LEGO
- LEGO movie
- Violence
- Anthropology
And many smaller contributions I don't care to mention or can't remember.
I also did a lot of work as User:195.86.30.10 and some as User:80.127.20.68
list of lists
At the moment, september 2004, I am busy with the Wikipedia:List of lists/uncategorized. Trying to find lists that have names of people and categorizing them to category:lists of people. So far I have done over 500 and I expect that I am about halfway....
