David Boothroyd (born November 9, 1972, Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire) is a political researcher based in London.
He was brought up first in Leeds but moved to Scarborough in 1976 where he attended Newby County Primary School. In 1983 he moved to Congleton, Cheshire where he attended Quinta County Primary School, and from 1984, Heathfield High School. From 1989 to 1991 he attended King's School, Macclesfield. His further education was at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge University.
He has been a member of the Labour Party since 1989 and on leaving university worked for John Battle, MP for Leeds West. He then worked as a private sector political researcher. His book "Politico's Guide to the History of British Political Parties" was published in 2001. From 2002 to 2004 he worked for Ian Lucas, Labour MP for Wrexham.
He has been a member of Westminster City Council since 2002.
