Arcuras Kyouai
I am a Co-op student at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ont, and am currently starting my third year of study in English: Literature, with an estimated graduation date of April 2007. I'm most interested in creative writing, and have had two of my own poems published in dead tree format by the International Library of Poetry. I'm hoping eventually to become a teacher or creative writer, but am also interested in the fields of journalism, acting, or directing.
Within my major, I've taken courses in literary criticism, science fiction, children's literature, semiotics, Shakespeare, early British literature, modern Canadian/American literature, and "The Rebel" (a study of literature as an art form, unconventional writers, writing, and characters in literature). I have also spent one of my work terms working as an English grammar and ESL tutor.
Other subjects that I am studying alongside my major include Criminology, Canadian History, History in Film, Developmental Psychology, Psychology of Humour and Laughter, Psychology of Sex and Human Sexuality, Semiotics, Psychosexual Organization, and Philosophy through Science Fiction.
I am a male-biased bisexual, and have taken up the post of "Gay/Queer Issues Columnist" for Imprint, the University of Waterloo Student Newspaper. I am planning on using this experience to begin my slow movement into social activism, but we'll see what happens.
